It is Sunday!
Around this house it is wild! To catch ya all up…
My chidren are grown – that is what they tell me.
They are almost 27 and 29.
We will start with my son and his wife – hey for once not the oldest. Joshua is US Coast Guard now Reserves hoping to get back into active duty. When not a Coastie he works in a battery factory and wishes he was out on a ship. His wife is Melissa – they have been married near five years and live down the lane.
My daughter is Rachel – she is 29 and has a almost 9 yo daughter Caitlin. They live in the home with me and my husband. Rachel is divorced and making a true mark as a single Mom – that is a position that goes down in the hall of heroes. Being a single Mom is tough!! She is a writer, graphic designer and web desighner. When not busy in those areas she is the office manager at the dance studio Catilin studies at. This plus active here on the farm, in the school and community I do not know where she finds the energy.
Sunday is when everyone is home. This is when the big meals get made – the old fashion Sunday dinner. There are the best – lots of good food and great company. When you put everyone together there are about 20 to a meal but Sundays are just the 6 of us. All sharing, helping and joking. Mostly joking. Rachel plans the menu and everyone pitches in, Hubby peels and cuts potatoes, Caitlin helps make brownies, Joshua reminds us all when we forget the timers. Then Rachel and Joshua pick out a movie or tv program for us to enjoy. You never know what genre or even catagory it is going to come from – this week it is a comedy program on the comedy channel – sometimes it is a old movie or a new release. It is always a time for all of us to stop and relax away from the rest of the world. Well time for cleanup – Melissa has cleared and I can’t start dishes until Caitlin is done running her bath, getting ready for school tomarrow.
Most of the talk at dinner was about Thanksgiving – plans being made and menues finalized – Joshua is 27 this Thanksgiving week and Thanksgiving it’s self is always a big gathering with great food, lots of friends, and family. This year we expect about 12 for the main meal, plus the plates to those for our friends wha are alone or who’s family have gone. Then there will be the visitors – the ones who will come and go during the day, a snack here, a hug there.
But that is ok – for this is Sunday! Today and many others our family draws close and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
