Getting ready for Thanksgiving around here is a production of it’s own – as it is in many large families.
Around here it all starts with the food – a seperate cabinet space was cleared out in the pantry today to make room for all the bounty so far collected. We are not in an economic position to just run to the store and get everything at once – so we gather the needed items over the weeks prior, a little at a time. A couple of years ago we created a inventory/shopping list of all necessary items. This list is printed out and each family head gets a section. This method makes it easier to stick to menu that has meticiously been prepared. Checking off the purchased items on the inventory list – helps to keep from missing something (God forbid) or double purchases (hard on the budget).
