In Memory of My Uncle Earl

Earl J. Herbst will be sadly missed by his many friends and family.  He left this physical world on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 78.  He was born in New York City and grew up in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey.  He left to serve our country in the US Army and then returned home to build a masonry business and a family.  After being a mason all of his working life, Earl and his wife retired to Indiana to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.  He was an avid gardener and loved to tinker and fix things.  He also formed a passion for tennis.  Earl was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Puzzello.  He is remembered by his wife of 51 years, Lillian Herbst, and his brothers:  Warren of New Jersey, Joseph of North Carolina, Bedford of California, and Richard of North Carolina.  He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren Ryan, Darrin, and McClellan.  He is also survived by his son, Vincent of West Virginia.  Many nieces, nephews, and extended family will miss the presence of Earl in their lives.

Just wanted to say “thank you” for mentioning Lillian’s name as Earl’s wife of 51 years. Lillian helped me for several years in the office of the church I worked for. I grew to Love her and Earl, although these past several years have been a difficult time for her and him both I know she loved him very much.

Aunt Lil loves him deeply and always will. But he made some foolish choices as far as I am concerned. She is our Aunt Lil and we will love and take care her always.
